What is CPD?

CPD is an acronym for Continuing Professional Development and is a statutory requirement for all Registered Persons under the Engineering Profession Act in South Africa. The purpose of CPD is to ensure engineering practitioners remain current, competent, and professionally relevant in a rapidly evolving field. Aligning with international standards, CPD supports public safety and confidence in the engineering profession.

Yes, all CPD points available for our courses are accredited with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).

You will receive your CPD certificate and allocated CPD points will be issued by the University of Cape Town once you complete the course you have enrolled. A minimum of 80% is needed from the Multiple-Choice Questionnaire (MCQ) to complete the course.

Yes, once you enrol for a course, you will need to complete it within the allocated time to earn your ECSA-accredited CPD points. If you do not manage to complete the course in time, you will only receive a certificate of attendance.

The course content will remain accessible for the entire course duration. Once passed, the course content will no longer be available online. The course notes and slides can be downloaded while enrolled.

This is dependent on the content offered by the course. Course notes and slides can be downloaded from the website, while video lectures and other video content will need to be accessed online. The Multiple-Choice Questionnaire (MCQ) can only be completed online.

No, you will need to restart the MCQ if you are unable to finish it.

You have 10 attempts to complete the quiz. Should you still fail the quiz after your tenth attempt, you will no longer be able to complete the course and get the CPD points on offer. Instead, you will receive a certificate of participation.
